The Player

Behind The Plate

I started playing when I was nine and moved behind the plate because it was the one spot involved in every pitch. That is still the reason I love it. I like managing a game, knowing what my pitcher actually has that day, and calling around it. Catching is not the position anyone thanks you for, and I am fine with that.

What I work hardest at is being someone my pitchers trust. That gets built in bullpens and between innings, not in front of anybody.

Away from the field I am in four AP classes this year, I play trumpet in honors bands around central Kentucky, and I shoot competitive archery. I am vice president of my school’s HOSA chapter and I want to study biomedical laboratory science.
